A frog, two daggers, and a forge.

Frogs and Daggers is a one-person shop in Oregon: reviews of the knives and tools that land on my bench, plus knifemaking and blacksmithing.

I make blades the old way. Steel goes in the fire, gets hammered into shape, heat treated, ground, handled and sharpened. Every step goes on camera, the failures included, because that's where you learn the most.

The reviews are straight. I use the knife or tool for real work before I rate it, I tell you how I got it, and I tell you if it's not worth the money. I don't wreck products on purpose to test them, unless I have a spare to sacrifice.

Why the frog?

It sits still, it's patient, and when it moves it's fast. That's about right for forging.
